Dr. Randall G. Ezell

ezellDr. Randall Gene "Randy" Ezell passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018, following a short illness. He was born June 21, 1956, to Donald Gene Ezell and Lorene (Lowry) Ezell in Mexico, Missouri. He married Janis Knoetzel of Springfield, Missouri October 23, 1982. He is survived by his loving wife, Janis; son, Michael of St. Louis, Missouri; daughter, Jennifer of Washington, D.C.; brother, Joe (Brenda) Ezell of Mexico, Missouri; three nieces; one nephew; and seven cousins.

Dr. Ezell was a graduate of Mexico High School, where he excelled in multiple sports and earned state champion status in wrestling and track, a football scholarship athlete at Oklahoma State University and graduate of the University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1982, Dr. Ezell moved to Las Vegas to practice veterinary medicine with Dr. James Nave at Tropicana Animal Hospital.

Dr. Ezell enjoyed giving back to the veterinary profession through his long association with Western Veterinary Conference (WVC) where he served as Treasurer, Director and President. He was instrumental in the design and construction of WVC's Oquendo Center, a premiere educational facility. In 2016, WVC honored Dr. Ezell by naming the annual meeting the Randall Ezell 88th Annual Conference. A tireless mentor and educator, Dr. Ezell helped to develop the next generation of veterinarians. He was always willing to share his expertise and love of caring for animals with countless young veterinarians and students, instilling in them the professionalism, compassion and dedication he showed every day. His love, generosity, sense of humor and optimistic attitude on life will be greatly missed. He will be returned to his home state of Missouri as his final resting place.

Celebration of life will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 7, at the Oquendo Center, 2425 E. Oquendo Road, Las Vegas. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine Student Scholarship Fund in his name.
